Ardcath Irish Countrywomen's Association

The Parish of Ardcath Clonalvy: ICA

Ardcath I.C.A. Guild was founded in 1948. The first meeting was held in the home of Mrs. Gargan, Newtown, Stamullen, on 12 March 1948. The official Annual Report for 1948, which was submited to I.C.A. Headquarters showed a total of 29 members in the Guild. The Guild was founded with the objective of bringing women together in fellowship and, through co-opeative effort, to develop and improve the standard of rural life in the area, having regard for our Irish culture and to encourage the use of the Irish language in the affairs of Bantracht na Tuaithe, (Irish Countrywomen's Association).
